Custom Fabricated Parts for Newcastle Equipment Repairs

metal fabrication

Request custom fabricated parts in Newcastle with dimensions, material and operating requirements clearly defined—send our team your repair scope.

A damaged bracket, guard, support or fabricated component can delay an equipment repair when a suitable replacement is not readily available. Weldtech Fabrication provides custom-fabricated parts alongside welding and engineering services in Carrington, Newcastle. We assess the requested component and do not claim certification or structural compliance that has not been established for the project.

What Information Is Needed For A Replacement Part?

The starting information may be a drawing, an existing component or measurements from the equipment. The condition of a damaged sample can make some dimensions unreliable, so the client should identify mating parts, mounting points and functional requirements. Engineering input may be necessary where the component affects a designed structure, lifting system or other safety-critical application.

Prepare A Fabrication Enquiry

Provide enough detail for our workshop to assess material, processes and fit:

  • Drawing or sample: Supply the latest drawing or an available sample and identify any damage or distortion.
  • Material: Nominate the required mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium or other specified material where known.
  • Dimensions and interfaces: Mark holes, mounting faces, clearances and other features that control installation.
  • Operating environment: Explain exposure, loading and service conditions without assuming that the fabricator can infer them.
  • Quantity and deadline: State whether the requirement is a one-off repair, spare unit or repeat batch.

Separate Fabrication From Engineering Approval

Fabrication quality depends on clear documentation and suitable workshop processes. For structural steelwork, the Australian Steel Institute explains the role of AS/NZS 5131 and procurement controls through the National Structural Steelwork Compliance Scheme. Referencing that scheme does not mean every fabricated part is structural or that Weldtech holds a certification not stated on our website.

Our article on custom metal fabrication projects discusses why fit and project information matter. For repair work, we use the same disciplined approach: clarify the component, confirm the quoted scope and coordinate unresolved design questions before manufacture.

When A Sample Is Not Enough

A worn or fractured component may no longer represent its original dimensions. Welding repairs, corrosion or deformation can also hide the intended geometry. In those cases, measurements may need to be taken from the equipment, mating components or an approved drawing. We will not invent critical dimensions simply to complete a quote.

The client should also identify whether the part is replaceable fabricwork or part of an engineered system. A guard, platform connection or load-bearing component may require design information and approval beyond workshop fabrication. Clarifying this boundary protects the repair process and ensures that fabrication proceeds against an authorised scope.

Surface treatment and finishing should be specified rather than assumed. If the client or another contractor will paint, galvanise, polish or otherwise finish the part, that handover should appear in the scope and delivery requirements.
